Crime in the cities is out of control. The government needs to build more prison facilities to fill them with criminals

In the last decade, it’s not difficult to observe that there has been increasing rate of crime, no matter from which cities. Some researchers mentioned that such trend are caused by social inequality and poverty. The rise of crime would cause a series of problems such as building the bad reputation among tourists as well as economic loss. Some people suggested that government should construct more facilities like prison and fill them with criminals. But is it the only thing that should be implemented in order to deal with the problem?

It’s true that nowadays a lot of jails in different cities are in high use. Building correctional facilities can have a deterrent effect. Although the rate of crime may be gradually dropped, and yet it doesn’t solve the main problem in long term – prevent crime.

On the other hand, government would incur a large amount of cost if related infrastructures are built. Besides, some of the densely populated cities, might found difficulties in building prisons, because of lack of land resources. The government may need to rearrange the land use to proceed the construction, therefore it would affect the living quality of local citizens if prisons are located near residential area.

In conclusion, I believe that it will be effective to lower the crime rate by simply constructing more correctional facilities, but more important is that, government is encouraged to educate citizens avoid from committing crime. To deal with the problem of social inequality and poverty, subsidies can be set to provide further assistance. Constructing orison facilities is not the only way to control crimes.

I'm looking forward to seeing your coments !

People look to the criminal justice system for personal security. They are rightly concerned about crime and they want to be safe.
On the other land goverment's with high rates of incarceration may or may not have high rates of crime. Goverment's with low rates of crime may or may not have high rates of incarceration. Similarly, goverment's that embark on massive prison construction programs may or may not show declines in crime.
For example prisons are part of a comprehensive crime-fighting regime, but they are only a small component.Excessive reliance on prisons brings little additional safety. Imprisonment occurs long after the crime has been committed and mostly incapacitates an offender from committing more crimes against people on the outside. It does not prevent crime and inmates frequently come out of prison worse than they went in, with few additional skills or pro-social behavior.
In conclusion The small number of people who need to be locked up should be afforded every opportunity to improve themselves. The loss of liberty is the punishment. While incarcerated, they should work, get educated, undergo drug treatment, and everything else necessary so that society will not regret their release.

Hello Hanieh

In recent years, cities often faced with crime. The main reason is that due to world crises there is huge unemployment in the cities. Some people cannot find job, therefore they are committing crime in the cities. For me it is obvious that person who committed the crime must get punishment. Otherwise that person didn't take responsibility for their action.

People in the cities must live safe. If the government does not prevent a crime with strict rules it will happen again. I am partly agreed that government has to build more prison and to send there who did crime, but this is not only way to solving the problem. To solve this problem government should focus on rehabilitation process. In the same way government needs prepare offenders again to the real life. A good example of this is to give training to the prisoners like computer skills and car maintenance. In this way they can find job after prison and adapted to the real life.

On the other hand construction of the new prisons requires extra amount of money. But it would be more beneficial for the government to spend this money on the development of the quality of people life standard. For instance this money could be directed to the opening of new schools, universities, hospitals and sport facilities. Also this will led opening of new job places which could be the cause of increasing of the people busyness.

In conclusion I think it will be better to spent money for people rather than to build prison. Also I believe that this action will decrease the number of crime committed by those who did it because of their poorness.

Hi Hanieh.

Nowadays crime is a big problem in the world.

But I don't think that with building more prisons this problem can be solved.Because the grounds and budget of each country cannot afford to build a large number of jails, and I do not see perspectives to solve this problem in this way.

I think first of all,we must get rid of corruption in the police force, other public bodies and in society as a whole. In the future society without corruption will be an example for young people and will stimulate trade and investment in the future which can be spent on the development of the police.

For example, crime has dramatically been reduced in the Favelas around Rio de Janiero in Brazil. This was achieved mainly due to the fact that the government is largely freed from the corruption in the state, spending large funds of money to stationing police headquarters in and around the slums.

These financial expenditures greatly benefited the community.

In a nutshell I can say that increase of crime is preventable if people and government will help each other and also if children are brought up with proper guidance they will be exemplary citizens.
